Penny Farthing CLASSIC 252 Harrington Jacket

This design is archetypal of a jumper known by various names: the "Harrington jacket" in the UK; the "swing top" in Japan, a name coined by Kensuke Ishizu of VAN; the "Barracuda" in the UK, which is credited with originating this style; and the "Drizzler" by McGregor in the US.

It is a quintessentially classic design that pairs easily with any outfit. With a material weight that is neither too thick nor too thin, it is sure to be a go-to piece when you need a light layer, except in the height of summer or the dead of winter.

The collar features the traditional "dog ear" shape, named for its resemblance to a dog's drooping ear; when buttoned, the collar stands up to block wind from entering the neck area.
The side pockets feature buttoned flaps, and the cuffs and hem are ribbed to keep out the wind.
The interior is lined with a vibrant 100% cotton "Royal Stewart" tartan check, while the insides of the sleeves have a polyester lining for smooth entry, enhanced wind resistance, and durability.
There is one unbuttoned interior pocket on the left chest.
The sleeves are set-in rather than raglan style.

Named after the "penny-farthing"—the iconic bicycle with an oversized front wheel, no chain or shaft, and direct-drive pedaling—the manufacturer is a factory in the West Yorkshire region of Northern England, an area with a thriving textile industry historically centered on wool weaving.

The sewing process is handled by old-fashioned, small-scale cottage industry workshops attached to local homes.
As these were originally intended as workwear rather than fashion items, the design features a loose, baggy silhouette. Due to the decentralized nature of the production, there may be slight variations in the sewing; however, the durability is excellent. In this era of global inflation and a weak yen, these items offer an incredible price for an authentic British-made product.
