The History of the PATRICK Brand: From its Founding in 1892 to the Evolution of its Japanese-Made Models
Born in France in 1892, PATRICK. From the origin of the two stripes to the birth of Made-in-Japan models, we will introduce the brand's journey from the perspective unique to an authorized dealer.

The History of the PATRICK Brand
PATRICK is a French shoe brand that combines sportiness with elegant refinement. Since its creation in 1892 by a shoemaker in western France, it has earned a high reputation in various sports shoe fields, including football.
French Origins and the Story Behind the "Two Stripes"
From around the 1930s, PATRICK gained fame, primarily for its football spikes, and grew into a brand favored by professional athletes. During this period, the iconic "two stripes" were diagonally added to the back of the shoes, setting PATRICK apart from other brands. This design has been inherited by today's lifestyle sneakers and serves as an instantly recognizable icon for PATRICK.
Expansion into Diverse Sports Shoes in the 1950s
In the 1950s, PATRICK began to develop shoes for various sports, not just football, including track and field, badminton, handball, tennis, rugby, and cycling.
Among them, the "Liverpool" model, introduced in the 1980s, is particularly famous for being developed and favored as training wear by Michel Platini, then considered the best football player in France. Furthermore, musician Sting wore these PATRICK Liverpool shoes in a TV commercial broadcast in Japan, making the brand's presence extend beyond the realm of sports.
Full-Scale Entry into the Japanese Market and the Establishment of "Made-in-Japan PATRICK"
PATRICK officially entered the Japanese market in 1978. While PATRICK had a strong image as a sports shoe brand in its home country, in Japan, it focused on vibrant colors, stylish forms, and lightweight comfort. The spirit of its catchphrase at the time, "Makeup for your feet," has been continuously passed down, and it has gained widespread support as a sneaker with an elegant yet sporty feel.
In 1990, production began in Japan, and models tailored to Japanese foot shapes and lifestyles, including last shapes, material selection, and coloring, were successively introduced. Subsequently, the parent company of PATRICK in France was acquired, and the current Japanese manufacturing company obtained the rights to sell in Asia. Consequently, manufacturing in France ceased, and almost all PATRICK sneakers currently in circulation are models produced in Japan.
The Current Appeal of PATRICK
Today, PATRICK is supported by many fans as a lifestyle sneaker characterized by its slim silhouette, use of high-quality materials, and distinctive colorways. Its ability to be both sporty and elegant enough to pair with jacket styles or smart casual outfits is a unique charm not found in other sneaker brands.
Another feature is that it is offered in unisex specifications, with no distinction between men's and women's, only differing in size, allowing anyone to enjoy the same model regardless of gender, as long as the size fits.
