In 1948 (Showa 23), Zentaro Suzuki began selling men's clothing in a rented store across from the current SUZUKI main store.
My grandfather started the clothing and fashion business in Ito, but our family's business history goes back further. In my great-great-grandfather's time, the family operated "Daikoku Market" near Meguro Station in Tokyo, which handled everything from food to daily necessities.
Around 1943 (Showa 18), when World War II intensified, the family evacuated to Ito. As was the case throughout Japan, life and business during and immediately after the war were extremely difficult.
I was born in Ito in March 1967. After graduating from Ito Municipal Nishi Elementary School, Shizuoka Seiko Gakuin Junior and Senior High School, and the Faculty of Law at Nanzan University in Nagoya, I joined an apparel manufacturer's branch office in Nagoya (though I wasn't allowed to handle men's clothing). After seven years as a company employee, I returned to Ito in 1996 upon marriage and joined the family business, SUZUKI Clothing Store.
Around 2000, I became interested in e-commerce and launched our online shop in December 2001. In August 2022, we completely revamped our online shop system.
